It was late at night and my milk was leaking…

I needed my baby to wake and give me relief. But I also needed him to sleep- Really, really badly.

I was so exhausted. I had just gone to bed.

I’d been up working late… again.

And all I needed was just a little sleep, but also for my baby to wake up. I was in pain. An ongoing dilemma…

My body had perfected the art of cat-naps, feeding on demand, and conference calls. I loved my kids and I loved my work. I really, truly, loved my life.

And I was totally on-fire for what I was doing professionally!

I knew I was working on something bigger than me. Something that would make change for many. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but I knew it was important and that I was “called” to do it!

Nothing could stop me. Not even sleepless nights and leaky boobs…

“Mompreneurship” was a newer term when my babies were little. There were few resources and fewer moms running profitable businesses from home who were taken seriously. It was in 2006 when I had 3 kids under 4 yrs. and had just launched my new company. My youngest was only 6 weeks old.  It was not until 5 years later in 2011 that an MSNBC article declared the rise of the “mompreneur” to be a hot trend in the small business sector.

From the power of mom bloggers, to the influence of fit-moms, to the rise of the Etsy mavens… Mompreneurs have proven that we hold a powerful and treasured place in current and future business markets.

And to achieve our impact, we need serious systems in place!

Our systems are unlike those in “normal” office settings. Ours bring content creation and well visits to the same calendar and they require a great deal of flexibility and rigidity at once.

Today I’m sharing some of my go-to common sense systems for calming the chaos in my business, marriage and mom-life.
